The Department of Geology organized an enlightening Talk on “Career Opportunities in Geoscience” for the students of the college on 11th October 2025.
The session was conducted by Mr. Mahadev Varak, Associate Manager at Sesa Goa Vedanta Pvt. Ltd., who shared valuable insights into the diverse career prospects in the field of Geoscience.
Mr. Varak discussed various professional paths available for geology graduates, including opportunities in mining, petroleum exploration, environmental management, remote sensing, and geotechnical studies.
He also emphasized the importance of field experience, technical skills, and continuous learning for building a successful career in this ever-evolving discipline.
A total of 35 participants attended the session — comprising 14 FYBSc, 9 SYBSc, and 12 TYBSc Geology students, along with 2 faculty members from the department.
🪨 Field Trip to Goa University – Groundwater Studies

The department also organized a field trip to Goa University on 8th October 2025, aimed at giving students practical exposure to water resource management and hydrogeology.
During the visit, students studied how Goa University has successfully implemented groundwater recharge techniques to mitigate water scarcity issues on campus.
This was followed by an engaging talk on the “Distribution and Occurrence of Groundwater” by Mr. Mahesh Mayekar, Assistant Professor, School of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Science.
A total of 25 students benefitted from this educational excursion, gaining hands-on understanding of groundwater systems, recharge methods, and sustainable water management practices.
✨ Conclusion
Both the Career Talk and Field Trip provided valuable academic and practical learning experiences, broadening students’ understanding of career possibilities and applied geoscience techniques.
The Department continues to encourage such interactive programs that bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world geological applications.
