The Department of History organized a field visit to several significant historical and archaeological sites in South Goa for students of FYBA SEC History, FYBA Major History, and TYBA Minor History.
The visit aimed to provide students with firsthand exposure to Goa’s rich cultural and architectural heritage, thereby enhancing their understanding of ancient history and archaeology.
🏯 Sites Visited
🕉️ Remains of the Mahadev Temple at Chandor – Students explored the ancient temple ruins, studying its architectural features and understanding its significance in Goa’s medieval history.
🪶 Rock Carvings at Pansaimol – The visit offered insights into prehistoric petroglyphs depicting animals, human figures, and symbolic carvings, highlighting early human settlements in Goa.
🪔 Rivona Caves – Students examined the Buddhist caves and carvings, learning about the influence of Buddhism in ancient Goa.
🙏 Site of Narayandev at Vichundre – The visit concluded with an exploration of this sacred site, connecting students with Goa’s temple art and religious traditions.
