Ms. Anisha Shenvi Dessai of M.Com. II was elected this year as the Chairperson of Goa University Students’ Council.

At the Student Parliament Competition organized by Goa Legislative Assembly our college won the FIRST PRIZE. Ms. Urjita Khedekar bagged the Best Speaker Prize. The college bagged this prize for the fourth consecutive year. Ms. Ankita Gadekar – Best Opposition Leader, Mr. Shripad Merchant – Best Co-ordinator and Mr. Jonathan Paes – Best Parliamentarian.

In the street play competition organized by the Institute Menezes Braganza and Abhivyaktee, Panaji, our college team won the FIRST PLACE.

In the one act play competitions organized by the Kala Academy, Goa held in March 2015 our college team made us proud by winning 20 out of total possible 25 prizes.

The college won the FIRST PLACE in all the three categories (Konkani, Marathi and English).

For the Marathi one act play ‘MANJULA’ our team won the following individual prizes

For the Konkani one act play ‘MANATALYA MANAT’ our team won the following individual prizes

  • Best playwright (first place) Gautam Gawde
  • Best make-up (first place) Anant Naik

Our college secured the 2nd runner up positions in the inter-collegiate Ghumat Aarti competitions organized by Shree Damodar College of Commerce and Economics, Margao, and Rotaract Club of Ponda, respectively.

Our college team was invited for a recording of a ghumat aarti performance by the 98.3 FM radio mirchi on 15th September, 2015 in their studio.

The college team won the championship of the Nukkad Natak 2 – Street play competition organized by Rotaract Club of Panjim on 12th September, 2015.

Ms. Shabana Chopdar of F.Y.B.Sc. (Electronics) and Mr. Pushpak Mashelkar of F.Y.B.Sc. (Electronics) secured 2nd Place at Inter-Collegiate Poster Competition organized by St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa.

Mr. Pravin R. Devang of T.Y.B.B.A. has been chosen for a Special Jury award in the category of the Best Management student award (UG) by Goa Management Association. The award was presented on 3rd October, 2015 at Annual Day Function of GMA.

In the XIV state youth festival, 2015 organised by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa on 28th and 29th November, 2015 at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhalim, Goa, the college team won the prizes in the following events at the North Goa level.

Mr. Ganesh Mishal and Agnel Lopes bagged FIRST CONSOLATION PRIZE for an Inter-Collegiate Quiz on ‘Life of Shivaji’ organized by Dept. of Information and Publicity, Government of Goa.

Mr. Kishor Babu bagged the 1st place for an Inter-Collegiate Elocution on the topic ‘Legacy of Magna-Carta’ organized by Dept. of History – Rosary College in August, 2015.

Mr. Ruben Fernandes and Deepika Jha won the 1st Place for ‘Power of Expression’ in December, 2015 organised by Emmaus Counseling Centre.

At I-Rix 2015 an Inter-Collegiate IT-Event organized by Smt. Parvatibai Chowgule College, Margao, our college students won the following prizes: Mr. Snehal Sarkhardande and Mr. Rahul Namdev won Silver Medal for Code Jam, Mr. Shubham Toraskar and Mr. Akshay Gaonkar won Gold Medal for Web Development, Mr. Mayur Bodji and Mr. Siddhesh Shetye won Silver Medal for Key Click, Mr. Akshay Gaonkar and Mr. Siddhesh Shetye won Gold Medal for 3DX and Mr. Sahil Dangui and Mr. Swapnil Gaonkar won Silver Medal for Robo Score.

At NOESIS 2015, a National level IT Event organized by Rosary College, Navelim, our BCA student team secured Second Place. Mr. Snehal Sakhardande won 4 individual prizes, Mr. Sahil Dangui and Ms. Divya Revankar 2 individual prizes each and Ms. Komal Borkar, Ms. Apurva Naik, Mr. Mayur Bodji, Mr. Shubham Vaigankar and Mr. Shubham Toraskar won one prize each.

Workshop on Soccer Robotics

The department of BCA of D.M’S College in association with Roboversity Centre, Bangalore organized one day state level workshop on “Soccer Robotics” on 16th December 2015 for Higher Secondary students from Goa.

The objective of the workshop was to give a complete kick start for robotics for students with concepts and live demos.

Mr. Ravi Teja, Trainer from Roboversity,Bangalore was the resource person for the workshop. There were 21 students from various Higher Secondary School at the workshop.

Ms. Yashoda Barve welcomed and introduced the resource person Mr. Ravi Teja. The resource person started his session on introduction to robotics, followed by electrical, electronic devices needed to design robots, higher education in Robotics and Job Opportunities in India.

In the afternoon session Mr.Ravi Teja showed the students how to make a moving robot which picks up the things from the floor using remote control. The students showed active participation in the making of robot and enjoyed playing with moving robot. The students were also interested in learning advanced concepts in robotics.

Field Trip: Smartlink Systems Infinite 3D

The department of BCA of DM’s College had organized a field trip for FYBCA students in 11th December 2015 to “Smartlink Systems”, Verna and “Infinite 3D”- an animation & 3D printing centre, Verna.

The students had interaction with IT Professionals at Smartlink and understood the work culture.

The students got an opportunity to see all the hardware parts and each step of production of the routers and circuit boards and testing of the same.

At Infinite 3D, the students learned about various software’s used to design 3D objects like Netfabb studio, STL Viewer etc. Mr. Ryan, the CEO of the company explained working of this software’s and demonstrated students the printing of 3D objects. Mr. Ryan said that the 3D models are first designed using software’s and then are filled with honeycomb shape material which reduces the material for printing the 3D model. He also showed them some 3D models. The students also got to use the 3D Mouse which was used to design 3D models.

Study tour to Chandigarh University

The department of BCA of DM’s College organized twelve days study tour for the BCA students to Delhi, Chandigarh and Agra from 28th October 2015 to 9th November 2015.

The 41 students of BCA were accompanied by four faculty members.

The objectives were to make a visit to Chandigarh University and know about the courses offered for Post-Graduation in IT, fees structure & facilities provided.

The students had an opportunity to interact with the Vice-Chancellor Dr. R.S.Bawa and Dean of students Council Dr.Arvindar Kang, who welcomed us with great pleasure and spoke about facilities availed by the University. Also, students had detailed interaction with Prof. & H.O.D of Computer Applications Mr.Gurupreet Singh, who showed the entire campus and various courses offered like MCA, BCA, M.Tech, B.Tech and MSc in Animation. He also showed the innovation centers (laboratories) setup by Microsoft and SAP for various elective courses for MCA.
