“Technotronics”- Technology goes on..

The Department of Computer Applications of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Centre, Assagao-Bardez, Goa, had organized National Level IT Event for BCA and B.Sc. (Computer Science) students on 09th and 10th February 2017 for the third consecutive year in association with Fogueri Caterers, Bicholim, Goa. Prudent Media (Pvt) Ltd was the official media partner for the event. Online registrations were made available on the official website: www.dmstechnotronics.com.

At the inaugural function Principal Dr. D. B. Arolkar welcomed the gathering followed by lighting of the traditional lamp. Mr. Ryan Vaz, Owner of Infinyt 3D, Verna-Goa, was the Chief Guest.  Vice-Principal Mrs. Rita Dukle introduced the chief guest which was followed by floral welcome of all the dignitaries. Head of the department and technotronics co-ordinator Mr. Prasann Mayekar introduced the departmental initiative and technotronics two-day programme schedule. Chief guest in his speech appreciated the initiative of inter-collegiate event with participation of various colleges from and outside goa. Student co-ordinator Mr. Preston Rodrigues gave the vote of thanks. Technotronics revolving logo artefact that was powered by micro-controller and remotely controlled through android app was then formally launched by the chief guest to officially flag off the event activities.

Technotronics 2017 had 30 main activities(competitions) like “I Me Myself”, “Dr. Debug”, “Drop the Bass”,  “iAds”, “Virtuality” etc and 4 gaming activities namely Counter Strike, FIFA, NFS and Mini Militia. All the competitions were held simultaneously at 4 different venues in the college for two days. Technotronics this year saw 6 BCA teams from goa and 3 teams from outside goa namely SRM College, Kudal – Maharashtra, Ajara Mahavidyalaya, Ajara – Maharashtra and St. Aloysius College, Mangalore – Karnataka. Each team comprised of 17 members. A live demonstration of 3D designing and 3D object printing was arranged in association with Infinyt 3D, Verna – Goa. Various spot prizes were awarded during the two-day event.

A positive feedback was given by all the participants about the various activities, ambience, hospitality and overall organization of the event.

At the valedictory function, Chief Guest Mr. Milind Anvekar, Vice-President – Projects & Customer Services, open Destinations Ltd, Panjim, Goa congratulated the college for such a commendable initiative and focussed on the need of students to be industry ready.  Don Bosco College, Panjim emerged overall winners in the main as well as gaming activities with Main trophy and Gaming trophy being awarded to them. Individual competition winners were also awarded trophies and certificates.
